New Delhi, April 8: On the Sacrifice Day of Mangal Pandey, the immortal hero of the 1857 revolution, several prominent leaders, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, paid their tributes. They highlighted Pandey’s courage, sacrifice, and contributions to the revolution, calling him a source of inspiration for patriotism.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla took to social media platform ‘X’ to express, “On the Sacrifice Day of the immortal hero of the 1857 revolution, Veer Mangal Pandey, I pay my deepest respects. His indomitable courage and struggle against British rule laid the foundation for our freedom movement and ignited the flame of independence across the nation. Mangal Pandey’s life is a unique example of patriotism, valor, and unwavering dedication to the motherland. His sacrifice will continue to inspire future generations to stand against injustice and prioritize the nation’s interests.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also shared his thoughts on ‘X’, stating, “Mangal Pandey, who infused new energy into the 1857 revolution with his unmatched bravery, inspired the youth for the freedom of Mother India while never compromising on his culture. Under his leadership, the Barrackpore cantonment became a symbol of the struggle against British rule. His unwavering loyalty, courage, and sacrifice for the motherland continue to strengthen the spirit of nationalism in every heart. I pay my respects to the great freedom fighter Mangal Pandey on his Sacrifice Day.”

Union Health Minister JP Nadda also paid homage to the legendary freedom fighter. He wrote, “I bow to the immortal martyr Mangal Pandey, who ignited the flames of revolution against the British. On this day in 1857, he sacrificed his life, shaking the very foundations of British rule and spreading the spark of the freedom struggle across the nation. His sacrifice for India’s unity and integrity will be remembered for eternity.”

While paying tribute, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath remarked, “The flames of rebellion ignited against British rule from Barrackpore by him eventually transformed into a grand Yajna of independence. His supreme sacrifice for the motherland serves as an inspiration for all patriots.”
