Rajasthan: Naresh Meenas Health Deteriorates in Tonk Jail, Admitted to ICU

Jaipur, August 29: Naresh Meena, an independent leader incarcerated in Tonk Jail due to the SDM slap case, experienced a health crisis on Saturday. He was subsequently admitted to the ICU of Sadat Hospital under tight security.

Officials reported that Meena complained of chest pain around noon while in jail. Pratik Salodia from the Prime Minister‘s Office confirmed that the jail administration sent him to the hospital at 12:28 PM, where he was admitted to the ICU. His ECG results are normal, but they are awaiting blood test reports. Doctors will decide on further treatment after reviewing the complete report, including whether he should remain in Tonk or be transferred to Jaipur.

Following news of his hospitalization, supporters gathered at Sadat Hospital, questioning the medical care provided in jail. Former sarpanch R.D. Gurjar alleged that Meena had been suffering from chest and back pain for over a week without timely treatment, accusing the government and jail administration of putting his life at risk. These allegations have not been independently verified.

Gurjar mentioned that former minister Rajendra Gudha visited Meena in jail on August 22, during which Meena reportedly complained of chest pain. Gudha later informed the media that Meena was unwell and required hospitalization.

Due to ongoing demands from supporters for adequate medical treatment, police have deployed security forces outside Sadat Hospital as a precaution.

Sunita Bainsla, daughter of the late Gurjar leader Colonel Kirori Bainsla, also expressed concern over Meena’s health. In a post on the social media platform X on August 25, she stated that complaints of chest pain and dizziness were alarming and urged the Rajasthan government to ensure a thorough examination and timely treatment for Meena.

Further clarity on Meena’s current condition is expected once the pending test results are available.
