Rajasthan Launches Campaign to Reduce Childrens Screen Time

Jaipur, April 15: The Rajasthan state government officials announced that the 8th National Nutrition Fortnight, which began on April 9, is evolving into a comprehensive public movement aimed at building a healthier Rajasthan.

This initiative, running throughout the fortnight, focuses on ensuring optimal brain development for children during their crucial first six years. It also encourages active community participation.

The campaign emphasizes reducing children’s screen time, promoting play-based education in early childhood, and improving nutrition for mothers and children.

The initiative will continue until April 23, and so far, over 2 million activities have been organized across the state.

This effort is raising awareness about essential nutritional habits for healthy living and robust brain development among families and communities.

On the ground, it has become an effective platform for delivering nutritional services to the last person through the Anganwadi network and community-based organizations.

By adopting a scientific and community-driven approach, this program is laying a strong foundation for a nutrition-secure and healthy childhood.

It is widely recognized that over 85% of brain development occurs by the age of six, with the fastest growth happening during the first 1,000 days of life.

In light of this, a special activity called Early Stimulation for Brain Development is being conducted under the program. To date, over 489,000 such activities have been held across Rajasthan.

These include more than 682,000 activities related to maternal and child nutrition, over 383,000 activities linked to play-based education in early years, over 242,000 activities focused on reducing screen time, more than 176,000 activities aimed at strengthening Anganwadi centers, and 27,671 activities in other categories.
