CM Mohan Yadav Urges Enhanced Discipline and National Pride in Tribal Hostels

Bhopal, April 16: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed officials to foster a positive atmosphere of academic dedication and patriotism in the tribal hostels and residential ashrams operated by the state’s Tribal Affairs Department.

During a review meeting at the state secretariat, the Chief Minister emphasized that these institutions should not only provide basic amenities but also promote discipline, cultural values, and a sense of national pride among students.

Yadav stated, “A positive environment of academic dedication and patriotism should be created in hostels and ashrams. These institutions play a crucial role in shaping the future of tribal students.”

He also suggested involving social and voluntary organizations, such as the Jan Abhiyan Parishad and Gayatri Parivar, in the management and oversight of these hostels and ashrams to enhance their overall functioning.

The Chief Minister stressed the need to maintain high standards in cooking, cleanliness, and security within these facilities.

He added, “Special attention should be given to cooking, cleanliness, and security arrangements. Proper training and monitoring systems should be developed to ensure sensitive and effective management.”

According to official data, approximately 3,000 ashrams and hostels are currently operated by the Tribal Affairs Department across Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, around 2,000 such institutions are managed by the Scheduled Caste Development Department, catering to the needs of students from marginalized communities.

The hostels run by the Tribal Welfare and Scheduled Caste Welfare Departments in Madhya Pradesh provide free residential facilities to students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, covering accommodation, meals, electricity, water, bedding, and furniture.

These include pre-matric, post-matric, and college hostels. They also offer libraries, academic support, sports infrastructure, and a structured environment to ensure safe, inclusive, and holistic academic development, particularly for students from remote and disadvantaged backgrounds.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi, and Principal Secretary of the Tribal Affairs Department Gulshan Bamra.

The primary objective of the review meeting was to improve infrastructure, strengthen management processes, and ensure that hostels and ashrams become safe and enriching spaces for the overall development of students.
