Jaipur, March 21: The Rajasthan government has directed all district collectors to promptly assess the damage to crops caused by recent heavy rains across various regions of the state.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has instructed officials to conduct ground-level surveys and submit detailed reports as soon as possible to ensure timely relief for affected farmers.
He stated, “All district collectors have been directed to carry out immediate surveys to accurately assess the losses incurred by our farmer brothers due to heavy rainfall in different areas of the state.”
Officials have been tasked with conducting a comprehensive evaluation of crop losses in rain-affected districts to implement compensation and relief measures without delay.
Chief Minister Sharma emphasized, “The prosperity of Rajasthan is built on the foundation of our farmers. The state government stands firmly with you, with sensitivity and responsibility. Providing timely assistance to affected farmers is our top priority. Ensuring quick and adequate support for each impacted farmer is our commitment, especially in light of reports of significant crop damage due to heavy rains, which have raised concerns among farmers.”
This directive aims to ensure a rapid assessment and distribution of relief materials to mitigate the impact on the agricultural community.
Notably, a powerful and unusual western disturbance has been affecting the region for the past three days, resulting in storms and rainfall in areas including Jaipur, Kota, Bharatpur, and Sikar. Reports of hailstorms have also emerged from some regions.
Significant snowfall in the Himalayan region has led to a notable drop in temperatures, providing relief from the recent heat and increasing the chill in the atmosphere.
According to the meteorological department, another western disturbance is expected to activate, bringing light rain and thunderstorms to parts of northeastern and western Rajasthan on March 21 and 22.
However, the unseasonal rains have caused severe damage to crops statewide, leaving farmers disheartened and raising concerns about agricultural losses.
In the last 24 hours, most districts have recorded a significant drop in maximum temperatures by 4 to 5 degrees Celsius, with the highest decline noted in Karauli (8.3 degrees Celsius) and Chittorgarh (6.8 degrees Celsius).
In Jaipur, the maximum temperature fell by 4.1 degrees Celsius to 26 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature dropped by 5.3 degrees Celsius to 16.1 degrees Celsius. This sudden change in weather has prompted residents to start wearing warm clothing in the mornings and evenings.
