Noida, March 18: Residents of the National Capital Region (NCR) have received encouraging news. According to the latest forecast from the meteorological department, rain is expected over the next three days, specifically on March 19, 20, and 21. This rainfall is anticipated to enhance the pleasant weather and further improve the Air Quality Index (AQI).
Local weather reports indicate that today, March 18, will feature mostly clear skies, with a maximum temperature of 33.0 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 16.0 degrees Celsius. However, a shift in weather is expected starting March 19.
On March 19 and 20, partial cloud cover is likely, with a chance of light rain or thunderstorms on one or two occasions. The maximum temperatures are forecasted to be 29 and 28 degrees Celsius, while the minimums are expected to be 16 and 17 degrees Celsius, respectively. March 21 will likely see overcast skies with light rain. Following this, March 22 and 23 are predicted to have partial cloudiness and predominantly clear skies.
The meteorological department has also ruled out any significant increase in maximum and minimum temperatures next week, offering hope for relief from the heat. With the anticipated rainfall, a notable improvement in AQI is expected across various cities in NCR.
As of the 4 PM update, the AQI readings from four active stations in Noida show Sector 62 at 201, which falls in the ‘poor’ category. Sector 125 recorded an AQI of 226, Sector 116 at 219, and Sector 1 had the highest at 260.
In Ghaziabad, air quality has also improved. Indirapuram recorded an AQI of 239, Vasundhara at 246, and the highest in Loni at 284. Several areas in Delhi have also seen a decline in AQI levels, with Anand Vihar at 262, Ashok Vihar at 228, Bawana at 230, Chandni Chowk at 287, and RK Puram at 221. The meteorological department suggests that further improvements in these figures are likely after the upcoming rains, providing significant relief from pollution for residents.
