Jaipur: Ahead of the Rajasthan Assembly session, opposition leader Tika Ram Jully expressed that the recent all-party meeting saw discussions on several important and meaningful issues.
He stated that the opposition firmly demanded the government respond to every issue raised in the House. Regardless of the nature of the reply, Jully emphasised that it is mandatory under democratic traditions to provide answers.
Jully highlighted that farmers, youth, the poor, and women of the state are watching the Assembly proceedings with great expectations. He added that the outcome of the all-party meeting should be positive; otherwise, the old situation will repeat. The opposition will not step back from raising its concerns.
During the meeting, the opposition also raised the matter of installing cameras in the Assembly before the Speaker.
Jully assured that once the session begins, these issues would be strongly raised within the House. He accused the state government of damaging Rajasthan’s image by introducing a bill related to disturbed areas.
He pointed out that those responsible for the incidents in Rajasthan are well known, and such efforts weaken the state’s longstanding reputation of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’.
Questioning the intent behind the bill, Jully said the manner of introducing it and the mindset of its supporters reflect their thinking. He warned that the consequences will become clear soon, with negative effects already visible on tourism. He questioned what kind of image the government wants to project of Rajasthan to the country and the world.
On the issue of OBC reservation in TSP areas, Jully said that this would be discussed extensively in the legislative party meeting. He stressed that the opposition would firmly fight for the rights of every community within the Assembly.
Regarding the UGC code of conduct, Jully mentioned that the party’s stance is not yet finalized. He said if any bill ensures non-discrimination and promotes social harmony, there should be no objection. The party’s final position will be announced later.
The Rajasthan Assembly session is set to begin on Wednesday. An all-party meeting was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani. Both ruling and opposition parties agreed to conduct the House proceedings peacefully, following established rules and traditions.
Both sides assured the Speaker that decorum and respectful, dignified language would be maintained throughout the session.
