Dharamshala, June 13: The first match of the three-match ODI series between India and Afghanistan is set to take place on Saturday at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. However, rain could disrupt the excitement of the match.
According to AccuWeather, there is a 90% chance of rain in Dharamshala on Saturday, primarily during the day and into the night. Rain was also reported in several areas of Dharamshala on Friday, with some locations even experiencing snowfall. This weather could pose a challenge for the first ODI between India and Afghanistan.
The Indian team will be without star players Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya for this series. Kohli has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury, and Yashasvi Jaiswal has been called up to replace him. Hardik is also recovering from an injury. All eyes will be on Rohit Sharma‘s performance during this series, especially given his strong record against Afghanistan in ODIs. Rohit has scored 150 runs in three matches against Afghanistan, averaging 75 with a strike rate of 127, including one century.
As vice-captain, Shreyas Iyer is expected to deliver a strong performance as well. Additionally, Prince Yadav, Harsh Dubey, and Gurnoor Barar have received their first call-ups to the Indian ODI team. It will be interesting to see who among them gets the chance to make their ODI debut. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are likely to open the innings, while Ishan Kishan may bat at number three. KL Rahul will have significant responsibilities in this series, as he is currently in good form. Arshdeep Singh is expected to lead the bowling attack, with Prasidh Krishna likely supporting him.
