Rahul Gandhi Intensifies Campaign in Kerala Ahead of Assembly Elections

New Delhi, April 4: As the assembly election campaign reaches its final phase, political parties are ramping up their efforts. In this context, the Congress party is intensifying its election campaign in Kerala. On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will arrive in Kerala to hold four major rallies across three districts. He has already departed from his residence in Delhi for this purpose.

Gandhi is expected to arrive in Kerala by around 10 AM to kick off his campaign. He will participate in four different events in three districts of the state. The first event will take place in the Alappuzha constituency, followed by rallies in Kattappana and Kochi. His final rally of the day is scheduled for approximately 3 PM in Ernakulam.

This visit comes at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also set to hold rallies in Kerala to support NDA candidates. The Prime Minister is expected to arrive at Thiruvananthapuram Airport around 2:30 PM and will address an NDA public meeting at the Thiruvalla Public Stadium at 4 PM. He will also participate in a roadshow.

It is noteworthy that the Kerala elections feature a triangular contest among the LDF, UDF, and NDA. The CPI(M)-led LDF faces the challenge of retaining power, while the Congress-led UDF aims for a comeback, and the BJP-led NDA hopes for significant success.

The BJP’s main alliance partner in Kerala is BDJS, and the regional party Twenty20 has also joined the NDA. Other parties, such as the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), Shiv Sena, and the National People’s Party (NPP) led by Conrad Sangma, are also part of the NDA coalition.

The elections for the 140 members of the Kerala Assembly are scheduled for April 9, with vote counting and results to be announced on May 4, 2026. A total of 890 candidates are contesting in this election. According to the final voter list published by the Election Commission of India, there are 27.1 million eligible voters in Kerala.
