Puducherry, April 4: As the assembly elections approach, political activities in the Union Territory of Puducherry have intensified. Tamilaga Vetttri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay has arrived today to conduct his campaign.
Vijay’s rally is one of the final significant efforts by regional leaders to mobilize voters ahead of the polling day, expected to draw a large crowd and energize party workers.
Voting for the 30 assembly constituencies in Puducherry is scheduled for April 9, with counting set for May 4. A total of 294 candidates are actively visiting constituencies to secure last-minute support and connect with voters. Prominent leaders are ramping up their campaigns to bolster their parties’ prospects.
TVK General Secretary N. Anand announced on the party’s X handle that the Election Commission has permitted Vijay’s campaign events at three locations on Saturday. The first event will take place at the Thattanchavadi Market Committee area from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This will be followed by a rally near the Kuddalore Road Mall from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and finally, a public meeting at Thavalakuppam Junction from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
The party has ensured all necessary arrangements, including drinking water and medical facilities, for the smooth conduct of the campaign. Strict guidelines issued by the Election Commission will be adhered to throughout the events.
According to the rules, no vehicles, including two-wheelers, will be allowed to follow the campaign vehicle. Additionally, attendance at each event is capped at 5,000 participants.
The party has also issued a public advisory urging sensitive groups, including pregnant women, children, school students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities, to refrain from attending in person. Instead, they are encouraged to watch the events live via television and social media platforms. With high-profile visits and tightly controlled campaign events, the election atmosphere in Puducherry is intensifying as it enters its final phase.
