Bengaluru, April 4: The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), champions of IPL 2025, kicked off IPL 2026 with a stunning victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). RCB’s next match is against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) this Sunday. Ahead of this match, the team shared a humorous video featuring star batsman Virat Kohli and Naga on their social media platforms. In the video, Kohli humorously addressed the accusation of having five foreign players in the playing eleven.
Naga asked Kohli about the rumors that RCB is playing with five foreign players. Kohli responded, “Do you think I am a foreign player? You should ask that question to the foreign players. I am not a foreign player.”
According to IPL rules, a team can have only four foreign players in its playing eleven. Kohli resides in London and travels to India for international matches or the IPL, leading to memes about him being a foreign player circulating on social media.
When asked how it felt to win the IPL 2025 title, Kohli said, “We have been waiting for this title for a long time. After winning, I felt quite light.”
Kohli was also questioned about his ever-changing hairstyles and tattoos. He was asked if he discusses his looks with five or six people. Kohli replied, “Do you think I come to show off my look? I get the hairstyle and tattoos that I like. If you feel good, you perform well.”
On the insecurity brought by new talents in the team, Kohli humorously stated, “I don’t have many issues. I’ll join you. Like in the movie Raja Babu, you can be Raja Babu and I’ll be Shakti Kapoor.”
Discussing the true meaning of victory, Kohli said, “Victory is the result of hard work and all the sacrifices made to stay committed to the game. It comes as a kind of reassurance that you haven’t wasted your time. Many people learn from losses, but many can also feel very disappointed. So, when you win after a lot of hard work, it gives you a sense of justice for your efforts and motivates you to work even harder.”
