Rahul Gandhi Criticizes Uttarakhand Government Following Retired Brigadiers Shooting Death

New Delhi, March 31: Congress leader and Lok Sabha opposition chief Rahul Gandhi has raised concerns regarding law and order in Uttarakhand following the shooting death of retired Brigadier VK Joshi in Dehradun.

Gandhi expressed his alarm over the incident, stating that the law and order situation in Uttarakhand has completely deteriorated. He emphasized that those who dedicated their lives to defending the nation at the borders now feel unsafe in their own cities. Under the irresponsible leadership of the BJP, Uttarakhand has succumbed to violence, murder, and fear.

On social media platform X, Gandhi wrote, “The brutal daytime murder of retired Brigadier VK Joshi during his morning walk in Dehradun clearly indicates that the law and order in Uttarakhand has collapsed. Those who dedicated their lives to the nation’s defense are now unsafe in their own cities, while ordinary citizens and various communities are forced to live in fear.”

He further criticized the state government, stating, “Under BJP rule, only criminals feel fearless and secure. Once known for peace and safety, Uttarakhand has now fallen into a state of violence, murder, and fear under the irresponsible leadership of the BJP.”

Ganesh Godiyal, the President of the Uttarakhand Congress, also targeted the state government regarding the retired officer’s death. Sharing a video on X, he remarked, “The shooting incident involving Brigadier Joshi during his morning walk is extremely tragic and concerning. This is not just a criminal act but a serious indication of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. There was a time when Dehradun and Uttarakhand were recognized for their peace and safety, but today, the increasing audacity of criminals is undermining that image. Continuous questions have been raised about illegal activities and late-night operations in the Rajpur area, yet effective action seems absent. The government must take immediate and concrete steps to restore law and order and ensure the safety and peace of the state.”

It is reported that retired Brigadier VK Joshi was shot in the Rajpur police station area of Dehradun while he was out for his morning walk.
