Georgia Voll Surpasses Beth Mooney to Become World’s No. 1 Women’s T20 Batter

Dubai, March 31: Australian cricketer Georgia Voll has ascended to the top of the ICC T20 rankings, becoming the world’s number one batter. She has ended Beth Mooney’s 26-month reign at the top. Voll’s impressive performance in the recent T20 series against the West Indies played a crucial role in this achievement. Meanwhile, India’s star batter Smriti Mandhana has slipped to third place.

During the T20 series, Voll showcased her skills by scoring her first career century, reaching the milestone in just 52 balls. She has jumped eight spots in the latest rankings, now holding 815 rating points, surpassing Mooney, who has dropped to second with 788 points. Mandhana has also lost a position, now sitting in third. Hayley Matthews has fallen to fourth place.

Beth Mooney had been the world’s number one batter in the shortest format since January 2024, having taken the top spot from Tahila McGrath. In the three-match T20 series against the West Indies, Voll made a significant impact, scoring 148 runs at a strike rate of 172. Her stellar performance helped Australia secure a 3-0 victory in the series.

In other rankings, Amelia Kerr, captain of the New Zealand women’s cricket team, has become the world’s number one all-rounder, amassing 508 rating points. She has pushed West Indies star Hayley Matthews to the second position. Kerr is only the fourth New Zealand player to achieve this feat, following Rebecca Steele, Amy Watkins, and Sophie Devine. Matthews had held the top all-rounder position since October 2023.

Maddy Green climbed four spots to 13th after scoring 85 runs in her team’s loss. Alana King has dropped to second in the bowlers’ rankings due to a lackluster performance in the first two ODIs against the West Indies. England’s Sophie Ecclestone has become the world’s number one ODI bowler. Australia’s Georgia Wareham moved up eight places to 16th in the all-rounders’ rankings after scoring 81 runs and taking four wickets in the first two ODIs.
