Ahmedabad, March 31: India has taken a significant step in the semiconductor sector with the inauguration of the outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Sanand, Gujarat. He emphasized that India is continuously solidifying its position as a reliable semiconductor supplier in the global market.
PM Modi reminded attendees that the ‘India Semiconductor Mission’ was launched in 2021. This initiative is not merely an industrial policy; it represents a declaration of India’s self-confidence. Under this mission, ten major projects worth ₹1.60 lakh crore are underway across six states.
Highlighting recent achievements, PM Modi noted that production commenced at Micron’s plant on February 28, and now, as of March 31, production has also started at Kaynes Technology’s semiconductor plant. This is not just a coincidence but a testament to the rapid development of India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
He expressed joy that an Indian company has shown interest in semiconductor chip manufacturing, with results now evident. PM Modi stated, “Kaynes Technology has now become a strong part of the global semiconductor supply chain. This is a remarkable beginning and a proud moment for the country.”
The Prime Minister assured that many Indian companies will play a crucial role in providing a robust semiconductor supply chain to the world through global collaboration. Today’s developments truly embody the vision of ‘Make in India, Make for the World.’
PM Modi also remarked that the 21st century is not just a time for economic competition but also a period for shaping future technologies. India is not merely a witness to change but is moving forward with the resolve to lead it.
He concluded by stating that the technological initiatives India is undertaking this decade will further enhance the country’s global leadership capabilities in the coming decades.
