New Delhi, February 24: Uday Bhanu Chib, the National President of the Indian Youth Congress, was arrested by Delhi Police during a ‘shirtless protest’ at the India AI Impact Summit. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has publicly opposed this arrest.

Gandhi stated that Chib’s arrest exemplifies a tyrannical tendency and cowardice.

In a post on the social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi emphasized that peaceful protest is part of India’s historical legacy. He stated, “It is in our blood and is a democratic right for every Indian.” He expressed pride in his fellow youth congress members, who bravely raised their voices for the nation’s interests.

He criticized a recent trade deal with the United States, claiming it compromises national interests, adversely affecting farmers and the textile industry while handing over data to the U.S.

Gandhi further remarked, “The arrest of Uday Bhanu Chib and other members of the Indian Youth Congress for presenting this truth is proof of tyranny and cowardice. The Congress party and I stand firmly with our brave companions. Holding power accountable is not a crime; it is patriotism. Do not fear—the truth and the Constitution are with us.”

According to sources from Delhi Police, they are investigating the organized plan behind the Youth Congress protest during the AI Summit. The investigation is ongoing. Earlier, several individuals, including Jitendra Yadav, Raja Gurjar, and Ajay Kumar, were also arrested in connection with the protest.

Following the disruption caused by the Youth Congress protest at the AI Summit, police registered a case under various sections, including public disturbance. So far, a total of eight arrests have been made in this incident, including Uday Bhanu Chib.
