Chandigarh, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : The special intensive review (SIR) process in Punjab is currently progressing smoothly, according to officials. On September 4, the administration urged media outlets to refrain from publishing or broadcasting unfounded reports.
Recently, some media platforms alleged that Dr. Dharmveer Gandhi, the Member of Parliament from Patiala, and his family members were missing from the draft voter list published on August 13. In response, officials clarified that this claim is entirely false and lacks factual basis. Dr. Gandhi and his family members are fully listed in the draft voter list.
Specifically, they are registered as voters in Assembly constituency number 115-Patiala, with entries from serial numbers 44 to 48. Notably, at serial number 44 is Jagdamba Kaushal, Dr. Gandhi’s wife; at 45 is Kumari Rohani Parashar, his daughter; at 46 is Mrs. Chahat Sahuja, his daughter-in-law; at 47 is Nabeendu, his son; and at 48 is Dr. Dharmveer Gandhi himself.
The administration has requested respected media representatives to avoid publishing or disseminating any baseless, misleading, or factually incorrect information related to SIR 2026 and to share only verified details.
On September 3, Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha accused the Punjab government of engaging in retaliatory politics. He claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party government has extended its vendetta to the draft voter list. Chadha stated on social media, “I am currently a Rajya Sabha member from Punjab. My voter ID is registered in Mohali, yet my name appears as ‘shifted’ in the draft voter list. Fortunately, this is only a draft and not the final voter list. Corrections will be made during the claims and objections process, which is currently ongoing. The final voter list will be published in October 2026. I am already utilizing the measures provided under SIR guidelines.” He further emphasized that this situation seems more like a political vendetta than a mere clerical error.
