Punjabs Anti-Drug Campaign Seizes Over 50,000 Drug Traffickers Since March 2025

Chandigarh, February 19: Punjab’s ongoing anti-drug initiative, ‘War Against Drugs,’ has gained significant momentum. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, law enforcement continues to intensify its crackdown on drug trafficking.

In a recent development, Punjab Police‘s Director General Gaurav Yadav inaugurated a state-of-the-art Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) facility in Jalandhar. The event was attended by Special DGP ANTF Kuldeep Singh, ADGP ANTF Neelabh Kishore, and ADGP State Armed Police M.F. Farooqui.

Spanning approximately 9,000 square feet, this facility was constructed at a cost of ₹1.6 crore. It is equipped with modern amenities, including dedicated offices for gazetted officers, cabins for investigators and support staff, a readers’ room, and a contemporary conference room. This building aims to enhance the range’s capacity to effectively combat drug trafficking.

Director General Gaurav Yadav stated that the facility is equipped with the latest tools to target major drug traffickers and dismantle international drug networks operating within the state. It features mobile and computer forensic tools, advanced data analysis systems, forensic data extraction capabilities, decryption and analysis tools, technical surveillance, and cryptocurrency tracking equipment.

He also noted that the ANTF has bolstered its technical capabilities with the Punjab Artificial Intelligence System (PAIS 2.0), which includes a database of over 70,000 criminal voices and voice analysis capabilities.

Sharing the campaign’s outcomes, the Director General revealed that since March 1, 2025, Punjab Police has registered 35,133 cases and arrested 50,238 drug traffickers. The seizures include 2,229 kilograms of heroin, 667 kilograms of opium, 28 tons of poppy husk, 68 kilograms of charas, 783 kilograms of marijuana, 29 kilograms of ICE, 4 kilograms of cocaine, 4.864 million narcotic pills/tablets, and ₹16.68 crore in drug money.

He hailed the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign as a significant success, emphasizing that it will continue until the menace of drugs is completely eradicated from the state. He urged the public to confidentially report any drug-related information via the Safe Punjab chatbot at 97791-00200.

Present at the event were Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur, DIG Jalandhar Range Naveen Singla, DIG ANTF Sanjeev Kumar Rampal, DIG ANTF Akhil Chaudhary, and AIG ANTF Ashwini Gotyal.
