Lucknow, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Uttar Pradesh government has taken decisive action against negligence in revenue matters. Following a review of pending cases in revenue courts, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the Revenue Council to suspend five tehsildars immediately. Additionally, 13 other tehsildars and naib tehsildars received show-cause notices for their lack of progress.
On September 7, a thorough review was conducted across all revenue courts in the state under Section 34 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, 2006. This review revealed insufficient progress in the timely resolution of pending cases, prompting the suspensions. Among those suspended are Amit Yadav, tehsildar of Sandila in Hardoi; Krishna Kumar Mishra, tehsildar of Deoria; Saurabh Kumar, tehsildar of Jaunpur; Ranjan Verma, former naib tehsildar of Ayodhya; and Alakh Shukla, tehsildar of Pratapgarh.
Earlier, on September 1, four tehsildars and one naib tehsildar were also suspended. This ongoing action follows directives issued by the Chief Minister after a high-level review on August 29, which emphasized the need for timely resolutions of revenue cases. The review underscored that any negligence or indifference at any level would result in strict disciplinary action.
In light of the negligence observed in case resolutions, the Revenue Council has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the 13 officials. This group includes Chandra Shekhar Verma, former tehsildar of Deoria; Gopal Ji, former naib tehsildar of Deoria; Ravi Ranjan Kashyap, tehsildar of Jaunpur; and several others across various regions.
The Revenue Council has made it clear that these actions are not isolated incidents but part of a continuous process to ensure accountability among officials. A commitment has been made to prioritize the timely and effective resolution of pending cases in revenue courts, aiming to provide swift and transparent justice to farmers and citizens alike.
The government has asserted that negligence in handling pending cases will not be tolerated, and any failure to meet expected progress will lead to immediate punitive measures against the responsible officials.
