
Chandigarh, June 17: Punjab Police have arrested three individuals involved in drug trafficking and have taken them into custody. Authorities are currently interrogating the suspects to gather more information about the case.
The police have made it clear that if any additional suspects come to light, they will take stringent action without any hesitation. This information was shared on their social media platform, X.
According to police reports, the arrested individuals were found in possession of 5.775 kilograms of heroin, 133,640 banned capsules/tablets, 39 cartridges, and 36,600 in cash. A case has been registered against them under the NDPS Act, and the investigation is ongoing.
Police stated that they are working to uncover the entire network based on the interrogation of the arrested suspects. This will help identify others involved and their respective roles in the trafficking operations. Anyone found engaged in illegal activities will face severe consequences.
The police emphasized that such actions are essential in the fight to make Punjab drug-free. Their sole objective is to eradicate drug abuse in the region, and they are committed to continuing their efforts. They aim to prevent the youth of Punjab from being involved in drug trafficking.
It is noteworthy that Punjab has been a target for cross-border drug trafficking. The police have conducted several significant operations in this regard. Previously, on June 11, Punjab Police seized 30 kilograms of heroin during a crackdown. The arrested suspects were reportedly in contact with traffickers based in Dubai, who facilitated the drug smuggling into Punjab.
