Mumbai, April 28: The political landscape in Punjab has shifted significantly following the inclusion of seven Rajya Sabha members from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speculations are rife that several AAP legislators may also join the BJP. In response to these developments, BJP leader Fateh Jung Bajwa stated that the party will contest the Punjab Assembly elections independently, asserting that they do not require any legislators from other parties.
During a conversation in Mumbai, Bajwa criticized AAP for failing to fulfill the promises made to the people of Punjab, leading to widespread discontent. He expressed that the public’s perception of AAP is so negative that it will be challenging for them to gain any traction in the state. “We do not need any legislators from other parties,” he emphasized.
Bajwa pointed out that AAP has not lived up to the responsibilities entrusted to them by the electorate. The departure of their leaders indicates a lack of effective leadership. He questioned why members from other parties are not joining AAP, suggesting that it is time for the party to reflect on its internal issues. He criticized the authoritarian atmosphere under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, stating that the disrespect shown to Rajya Sabha members is a clear sign of leadership failure.
Regarding the security of Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh, Bajwa condemned the Punjab government’s decision to withdraw protection simply because he is no longer part of their party. He labeled such actions as inappropriate and stated that calling someone a traitor is unjust.
When addressing comments made by Congress regarding Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Bajwa remarked that such statements reflect Congress’s own insecurities. He described Congress as a divided party and suggested that they should focus on their issues rather than criticizing others. He asserted that the BJP does not have a policy of incorporating individuals who have left other parties.
Bajwa also accused Kejriwal of dishonesty, recalling a time when he claimed he did not need a car or a bungalow, yet he later spent millions to build a lavish residence in Delhi. He noted that individuals joining AAP may feel embarrassed to face the public after Kejriwal’s missteps.
On the recent explosion on the railway tracks in Punjab, Bajwa revealed that there had been ongoing threats claiming that the tracks would be blown up. He stated that this incident highlights the deteriorating law and order situation, which AAP has failed to manage effectively. Such incidents are reportedly on the rise.
