Pune Police Arrests Six Illegal Bangladeshi Women in Major Operation

Pune, May 24: In a significant operation conducted on Saturday night, Pune police made a startling discovery in the Wednesday Peth area. Following the directives of the Police Commissioner, a joint team from Faraskhana and Khadak police stations raided the Sagar Building in Wednesday Peth, apprehending six Bangladeshi women who were illegally residing in India.

The operation was initiated based on confidential information received by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Krishikesh Rawale. Legal proceedings against the detained women are currently underway.

During questioning, the women revealed to the police that they were lured to India with promises of jobs in beauty parlors, tailoring, and domestic work. However, upon arriving in Wednesday Peth, they voluntarily engaged in sex work. The police are now investigating who brought these women to India, how they crossed the border, and the status of their documents.

The women have been identified as Kalpana Kamal Sheikh (38), Rani Rafiq Sheikh (42), Lucky Haleng Mandal (40), Pooja Rafiq Sheikh (20), Ruma Jani Sheikh (30), and Nishi Shahjahan Dhali (29). All of them hail from Bangladesh.

According to police reports, the women were involved in sex work while residing in different buildings in the Wednesday Peth area.

Notably, DCP Krishikesh Rawale has been actively conducting a strict campaign against illegal Bangladeshi nationals since taking office. In the past 11 months, a total of 103 illegal Bangladeshi citizens have been apprehended and deported. This operation is said to be part of his personal target campaign, which he aims to complete within a year.
