Protests Intensify in Pune as MPSC Students Demand Justice with Political Support

Pune, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : The protest by MPSC (Maharashtra Public Service Commission) students in Pune has intensified as they enter the second day of their hunger strike and satyagraha. Rohit Pawar, a legislator from the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), announced that the hunger strike, which began with five students, has now grown to include seven participants. He indicated that the movement, which started with 3,500 students on October 1, could swell to 70,000 by Monday.

Political pressure is mounting on the government, with opposition leaders joining the cause. Sanjay Raut and the Thackeray brothers are expected to visit the protest site on Sunday evening, while Rahul Gandhi and Sharad Pawar may arrive in Pune on Tuesday to show their support for the students.

Rohit Pawar stated that the number of students participating in the hunger strike is increasing. He noted that if the government fails to respond, the protest could see a significant rise in participation by Monday. The involvement of prominent leaders is expected to amplify the students’ demands.

Pawar expressed gratitude for Rahul Gandhi’s support, emphasizing the need for the government to take swift action. He highlighted the corruption that has emerged within the MPSC, which was originally established to ensure quality governance for the state. The students are fighting for justice and accountability.

He also mentioned that the presence of high-profile leaders, including Uddhav Thackeray, Raj Thackeray, and Aditya Thackeray, underscores the significance of the movement. The protests are poised to grow larger, with a commitment to achieving justice for the students and upholding constitutional values.
