Amaravati, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh announced on Sunday that his government is dedicated to ensuring housing for every poor family in the state. He declared that the goal of achieving 100% completion of the housing program will be met by 2029.
Naidu made this announcement during a foundation-laying ceremony for the construction of 300,000 homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0 in Burripalem, Guntur district, alongside Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The Chief Minister explained that initially, the central government approved only 75,000 houses for Andhra Pradesh under the regular quota. However, following a special request, the center granted approval for 300,000 homes. Chouhan also agreed to sanction an additional 300,000 homes once the current batch is completed, bringing the total allocation to 900,000 homes over the next year.
Highlighting Burripalem, Naidu noted that the village is synonymous with the legendary actor Superstar Krishna and has now produced a political figure in Union Minister Pemasani Chandrasekhar.
Naidu expressed his coalition government’s commitment to good governance, stating that it is dedicated to welfare and development across all segments of society. Under the Pattabhishekam initiative, long-standing land disputes have been resolved, and plots have been allocated to the poor. A total of ₹52,000 crore worth of housing plots have been made available in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Mangalagiri, and other areas of the state.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the agenda of the coalition government is to support every community and region. He praised Chouhan as a dedicated leader for the welfare of the poor and recalled the minister’s significant river-linking projects in Madhya Pradesh, which earned him the affectionate title “Mama” among the people.
Naidu criticized the previous government for mismanaging the housing program between 2019 and 2024, alleging that 600,000 homes designated for the poor were canceled due to corruption and irregularities. He pointed out that plots were allocated in unsuitable locations, such as ponds and hills, rendering them uninhabitable. Consequently, around 400,000 beneficiaries returned their allotted plots.
The current government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality housing for the poor. As part of this initiative, 3D concrete printing technology will be trialed in Burripalem, aiming to keep indoor temperatures at least 8 degrees Celsius lower than the external environment, ensuring greater comfort for residents.
Following the successful construction of homes using 3D technology, Andhra Pradesh plans to establish itself as a model for the 3D housing program by constructing an additional 5,000 homes using this innovative method.
