Owaisi Criticizes SP and Congress for Neglecting Muslim Political Representation in Bahraich

Bahraich, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), recently criticized the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress during a rally in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. He accused the SP of hindering the political advancement of the Muslim community. Owaisi’s remarks came in response to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s comments regarding upcoming elections, which he claimed raised questions about the party’s commitment to Muslim interests.

In his address, Owaisi pointed out that the SP has faced continuous electoral defeats since 2014. He alleged that the party does not want the Muslim community to establish its political strength or advocate for its rights and representation. “The SP wants Abdul to just lay out the carpet, run around behind the leaders, and then fall asleep after voting,” Owaisi remarked. He expressed concern over the destruction of mosques and the wrongful targeting of Muslims through false allegations and encounters.

Addressing accusations that AIMIM acts as a “B team” for the BJP, Owaisi dismissed such claims as arrogant. He stated that these comments reveal a flawed perception of the Muslim community by those making them.

Owaisi also critiqued Kharge’s suggestion to dissolve the Lok Sabha and state assemblies for new elections using ballot papers. He responded, “The good news is that we are no longer the BJP’s ‘B team,’ as they have often blamed me for their losses. Now they should acknowledge that our party is not the reason for their defeats.”

He questioned Congress’s stance on the legitimacy of elections, particularly in Karnataka, and raised similar queries regarding Telangana and Kerala. Owaisi also highlighted the issue of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, stating his opposition to this process, which he believes has caused distress among the public. He recalled taking legal action against SIR in Bihar, where the Supreme Court ruled on the matter.

Owaisi concluded by emphasizing that the current public sentiment is one of frustration towards the SIR process.
