
Naya Raipur, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) is making a comeback in Naya Raipur with the inaugural Naya Raipur Open. Scheduled from September 15 to 18, 2026, the tournament will take place at the Fairway Golf and Lake Resort in Chhattisgarh.
Supported by the Chhattisgarh government, the event will be inaugurated by PGTI chairman Kapil Dev on Sunday. A total of 132 professional golfers will compete for a prize pool of ₹1 crore. Among the notable Indian players participating are Saptak Talwar, Honey Baisoya, Veer Ahlawat, Akshay Sharma, Khalin Joshi, Rashid Khan, Manu Gandas, and Om Prakash Chouhan from Mahu. Additionally, 18 international players will also join the competition.
The tournament week will kick off with a Pro-Am event on September 13, followed by an official practice round on September 14. The professional rounds will be played from September 15 to 18.
Kapil Dev expressed his enthusiasm, stating that Naya Raipur has the potential to become a significant destination for professional golf in India. He emphasized that returning to the city for a second tournament this year reflects their confidence in its capabilities. Dev looks forward to the launch event on September 13 and is eager to contribute to the growth of golf and golf tourism in the region.
