Pro Wrestling League 2026 Sees Huge Crowds After Six-Year Break

Noida witnessed a massive turnout for the Pro Wrestling League (PWL) 2026, which returned after a six-year hiatus. PWL CEO Akhil Gupta attributed this surge in interest to the long gap since the last edition of the league.

The league began on January 15 and will conclude with its grand finale on February 1. Speaking about the enthusiastic response, Gupta said, “It is very encouraging to see so many people lining up at the entry gates. The excitement among fans is palpable, and the crowd waiting for passes shows both their love for the sport and the challenges we face. For us, it is a positive challenge.”

On the league’s long-term vision, Gupta shared that PWL aims to promote wrestling across India and expand its presence beyond a single location. “Our goal is to grow the sport and take the league to multiple cities. Players from over 17 countries are participating. While many usually go to the US for studies, here we have US players coming to compete. The passion has been overwhelming. For instance, Susaki, who had never played in a private league before, personally told us that she wants to come to India every year because she loves PWL so much. Overall, the response from players and coaches has been excellent.”

Gupta also praised the strong coordination between PWL and the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). “The understanding and cooperation between us and WFI is beyond words — it is very strong and balanced. Some developments should remain surprises and will be revealed gradually. We are receiving excellent viewership data, and I assure you that any decisions made will exceed expectations.”
