
Bhubaneswar, June 27: In anticipation of the Snana Purnima festival, significant security measures have been implemented at the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, due to the expected influx of devotees. Central IG Satyajit Nayak announced that extensive security, crowd management, barricading, and emergency arrangements have been established to ensure safe and smooth darshan for the devotees. A total of 729 police personnel have been deployed for this purpose.
Nayak welcomed all devotees arriving for Snana Purnima, noting that the event typically attracts a crowd of approximately 300,000 to 400,000 people. To facilitate uninterrupted darshan, over 700 police officers have been assigned, including 15 officers of SP rank, 30 officers of DSP rank, 87 inspectors, and more than 350 ASI and SI rank officers.
He explained that police barricading has been arranged from the temple’s entrance to the exit. Additionally, police control rooms and medical control rooms have been set up. The arrangements for marking how and where devotees can access the temple are also being monitored to ensure a hassle-free experience.
The IG further stated that robust traffic management and vehicle parking measures have been established. Changes have been made to the barricading system to streamline the entry and exit of devotees during Snana Purnima. Continuous oversight is in place to ensure a smooth flow for all attendees.
Nayak urged all arriving devotees to adhere to the advisories issued by the police administration. He emphasized the importance of following barricading, entry, and exit rules. Devotees are encouraged to report any suspicious or unusual activities to the police immediately. The police control room will be operational 24/7 to ensure prompt action.
He also mentioned that multiple meetings have been held with state administration, district administration, police administration, temple administration, and municipal authorities to ensure that the Snana Yatra proceeds smoothly and peacefully. Furthermore, the use of cameras inside the temple premises is strictly prohibited.
