Preparations for Kumbh Mela 2028 Underway in Ujjain

Ujjain, May 14: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, inspections for the Kumbh Mela 2028 are ongoing. Following the Chief Minister’s directives, new ghats along the 29-kilometer stretch of the Shipra River are being constructed to accommodate millions of devotees for safe bathing and access to the destination.

All departments have accelerated their development projects in preparation for the Kumbh Mela. CM Yadav regularly reviews the progress of these preparations and provides necessary instructions.

Development work is progressing under CM Yadav’s guidance. To facilitate the influx of devotees from around the world, convenient approach roads are being built to connect vehicle parking with the ghats for bathing. Organized parking areas and easy access routes will streamline management. Recently, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajora visited Ujjain to assess the preparations.

During regular inspections for Kumbh Mela 2028, Divisional Commissioner and Mela Officer Ashish Singh, along with Ujjain Collector Roshan Kumar Singh, evaluated arrangements at key locations in the fair area with a team of departmental officials. The team began their inspection near the Vikrant Bhairav Temple bridge and walked approximately five kilometers. They identified 18 proposed locations for approach roads to connect the newly constructed ghats along the Shipra River.

Under CM Mohan Yadav’s directives, Ujjain is gearing up to host millions of devotees for a convenient bathing experience in the sacred Shipra River. The Chief Minister consistently monitors the preparations. Recently, administrative officials undertook a 36-kilometer walk along the riverbank, identifying 140 locations for proposed routes connecting to the ghats.

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call and CM Yadav’s initiative, officials traveled by bus to save fuel while conducting inspections. This team regularly identifies proposed routes for development work and facilities for devotees, promoting fuel conservation.

Locations for approach roads connecting new and existing ghats to the main route have been identified. The inspection began at the area under the Red Bridge, covering locations like Gau Ghat, behind the Observatory, near Vakankar Bridge, and close to the Shri Shani Temple, to prepare access routes for both old and newly constructed ghats.

The newly identified areas for approach road construction along the banks of the Shipra River aim to ensure easy access for devotees. The police department will devise a plan for crowd control and traffic management at these identified locations.
