Dehradun, February 10: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a review meeting on Monday regarding the preparations for the Kumbh Mela 2027. During the meeting, he instructed officials to complete all preparations related to the Kumbh by October. He emphasized that all construction work must be finished on time, considering the requirements of the event, with a strong focus on quality.
The Chief Minister stated that no work related to the Kumbh should remain pending at the government level. Accountability will be ensured for any delays by the respective officials. He reiterated that the state government’s priority is to ensure a grand, divine, and successful organization of the Kumbh Mela. Dhami directed the Secretary of the Public Works Department to appoint technical officials for the Kumbh within the next 24 hours.
He also called for an audit of all bridges in the Kumbh area. Additionally, beautification and necessary reconstruction of all ghats in the Kumbh region should be undertaken. Arrangements for bathing should be made at Har Ki Pauri and other ghats for the devotees.
The Chief Minister insisted on preparing a comprehensive action plan for cleanliness in the fair area. Adequate arrangements for toilets and drinking water should be made at all major locations. Sufficient deployment of security forces and water police is essential. He also highlighted the need for modern equipment such as drones and CCTV for security purposes.
A detailed plan for law and order, parking, and crowd management during the fair should be developed separately. The Chief Minister instructed that land allocation for various akhadas in the Kumbh area should be completed on time, with the Mela Officer monitoring the process. Coordination with all akhadas, ashrams, saint communities, organizations, committees, and local residents is crucial, along with incorporating their suggestions into the preparations.
To prevent difficulties in transportation during the Kumbh, a large-scale anti-encroachment campaign should be initiated in the Kumbh area. The Chief Minister also urged for prompt permissions regarding forest-related matters. He directed officials to establish coordination with other states as well.
He emphasized that all development works related to the fair must be visible on the ground, not just on paper. The Chief Minister instructed that the arrangements for housing and tent cities should be completed on time, along with setting up temporary hospitals, ambulances, and mobile medical teams in the fair area.
Dhami concluded by stating that the Kumbh Mela is a significant religious event representing our culture and faith for millions of devotees. It is our duty to make this event successful, ensuring that every visitor leaves with a positive experience.
