Hyderabad, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : Hyderabad police have initiated legal proceedings against several leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), including executive president K.T. Rama Rao and party deputy leader T. Harish Rao. The action comes in response to disturbances that occurred at the assembly entrance.
The BRS lawmakers are accused of obstructing police duties and assaulting officers. According to an FIR filed by investigation officer M. Balaswamy, these leaders attempted to forcefully enter the assembly while wearing black T-shirts emblazoned with political slogans, despite security restrictions imposed by the Speaker. Allegations include misconduct towards female constables, threats to staff, and physical confrontations with police personnel.
Among those named in the FIR are former minister Jagdish Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, Sabitha Indra Reddy, and Sunita Laxma Reddy, as well as MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy, Shambipur Raju, Sanjay, Vijaydu, Sudhir Reddy, and Kova Lakshmi. The case has been registered at the Saifabad police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, which include offenses related to assaulting public servants, causing humiliation to women, and creating public disorder.
On the same day, police arrested two BRS MLCs, Tata Madhusudhan, also known as Madhu, and N. Naveen Kumar Reddy, for making derogatory remarks against assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. This arrest followed a complaint from the Speaker’s Officer on Special Duty, Polepalli Venkatesham, who alleged that the remarks were intended to demean the Speaker in front of journalists and security personnel.
Additionally, complaints have been filed against 291 BJP leaders and activists attempting to stage a protest at the assembly regarding fee reimbursement issues. The police also registered a case related to damage caused to a police vehicle transporting BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao during the protest.
The situation remains tense as political factions continue to clash in the assembly premises.
