Patna, May 27: Prashant Kishor, the founder of Jan Suraj, has made significant statements regarding the Bankipur Assembly by-elections, the Special Intensive Review (SIR), and Bihar’s political landscape. He asserted that Jan Suraj will contest the Bankipur seat with full strength, posing a serious challenge to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In an interview with a news agency, Kishor stated, “Bankipur has been considered a stronghold of the BJP for nearly 40 years, and it is currently the seat of the BJP’s national president. Jan Suraj has decided to enter the election fray with full vigor.”
He emphasized, “We want to demonstrate that if anyone can defeat the BJP in Bihar, it is Jan Suraj. The party will intensify its public outreach campaign starting next month. Our workers will engage with people door-to-door and make every possible effort to defeat the BJP.”
Kishor noted that the identity of the candidate is not the most pressing issue in this election. He believes the key is to understand the public’s concerns and present a strong political alternative.
Regarding the Supreme Court‘s decision on petitions challenging the Special Intensive Review (SIR), he expressed his views. Although he has not seen the complete ruling yet, he mentioned that a significant section of society does not consider these decisions entirely transparent.
He stated, “It is essential to adhere to the Supreme Court and Election Commission’s decisions in these matters. However, there is a growing perception among the public that some decisions appear to favor the ruling party.”
Kishor also commented on former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, stating that associating with the wrong people in political life always leads to detrimental outcomes. According to him, when Kumar displayed political weakness, even his close associates abandoned him.
He claimed that there is now a pressing need for change in Bihar’s politics, and Jan Suraj aims to emerge as that alternative. He reiterated that the party’s goal is not just to contest elections but to establish new thinking and new methodologies in Bihar’s political arena.
