Tamil Nadu Police Uncover Series of Thefts in Ambur, Two Arrested with Gold and Silver

Mumbai, June 12: In a significant breakthrough, the Ambur rural police in Tirupattur district, Tamil Nadu, have arrested two suspects linked to a series of thefts in the area. The police recovered four sovereigns of gold jewelry and 65 grams of silver items from the accused.

According to police reports, early yesterday morning, unknown thieves broke into the homes of Girija, Sumitra, and Samiullah in the Periyankuppam area near Ambur. At the time, all residents were asleep. The thieves made off with gold chains and silver items. Following complaints from the victims, the Ambur rural police registered a case and initiated an investigation.

During the investigation, police reviewed footage from local CCTV cameras. They received a tip-off that the suspects were attempting to pawn the stolen jewelry at a shop in the Ambur jewelry market. Acting swiftly, police arrived at the scene and apprehended two individuals red-handed. The arrested suspects have been identified as 27-year-old Selvakumar, alias Bablu, a resident of Netaji Nagar, Santhorakuppam, Ambur, and 34-year-old Bose, a resident of Mariamman Kovil Street.

During interrogation, both suspects confessed to their involvement in several thefts in Periyankuppam and surrounding areas. The police have registered a total of six cases against them. They were presented in court and have been remanded to judicial custody.

Following this incident, local residents and social activists have expressed concerns about law and order in the area. They stated that the ongoing thefts and robberies have created an atmosphere of fear among the community.
