
Washington, June 12: US lawmakers and business leaders have congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister. They highlighted the growing significance of India’s economy and the strengthening partnership between the United States and India.
Messages of congratulations came from members of Congress, a US senator, and executives from major American companies, reflecting broad support in Washington and corporate America for closer ties with India.
Charles R. Kaye, Chairman of Warburg Pincus, stated that PM Modi’s achievement demonstrates “the trust and confidence shown by the people of India in your leadership.” In a letter dated June 10, Kaye noted that India has solidified its position as “one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and emerged as a major global power.”
The private equity executive emphasized India’s increasing importance for his firm, writing, “Today, India is the second-largest private equity destination globally and our largest market in Asia. We take pride in being one of the early global private equity firms to invest in India. Warburg Pincus is committed to being a long-term partner in India’s continued growth.”
Lawmakers on Capitol Hill referenced the strategic relationship between Washington and New Delhi. Lawmaker French Hill remarked that PM Modi’s tenure reflects the trust of the people in the world’s largest democracy.
Lawmaker Brad Sherman congratulated PM Modi, stating that the United States and India, as “the oldest and largest democracies in the world,” share “a natural partnership and strong relationship.” He added, “I wholeheartedly congratulate the people of India on this historic achievement.”
Congressman Joe Wilson emphasized the importance of US-India relations, noting that “the free world faces threats from dictators who seek to undermine prosperity and the rule of law.” He extended his best wishes to the Prime Minister and the people of India.
Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith expressed hope for “strong trade and economic ties between our two countries,” while Congressman Mike Haridopolos remarked that “the US-India partnership has never been more crucial.”
Leaders from the technology sector also underscored India’s economic and digital transformation. Jitu Patel from Cisco stated that PM Modi’s government has focused on “digital inclusion and technology development,” helping to create “a more connected and robust future for India and the world.”
Patel further noted that India’s emphasis on digital infrastructure has fostered innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, India has become the fastest-growing major economy in the world. Cisco takes pride in being India’s technology partner in the era of AI.
