Political Turmoil in Karnataka as Chief Minister Siddaramaiahs Resignation Rumors Intensify

Bengaluru, May 28: The political landscape in Karnataka is buzzing with speculation following rumors of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah‘s potential resignation. This comes as Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot has left Bengaluru, prompting discussions about the implications for state governance.

Congress sources have indicated that the governor’s absence will not hinder the resignation process. Siddaramaiah is expected to submit his resignation at 3 PM as scheduled. Party insiders have confirmed that despite the governor being out of town, Siddaramaiah has been instructed to deliver his resignation to the governor’s office. They assert that there will be no changes to the planned timeline and all events will proceed as intended.

This development arises amidst ongoing discussions about a possible leadership change within the Karnataka Congress. The sudden departure of Governor Gehlot late last night has fueled speculation in political circles.

Reports suggest that the governor departed for Mumbai from Kempegowda International Airport at 11:45 PM on Wednesday. He is believed to have spent the night in Mumbai and may head to Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday. There has been no official word on when he will return to Bengaluru.

The governor’s office has cited a family medical emergency as the reason for his abrupt trip. However, this timing has raised eyebrows, particularly since Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had sought a meeting with him.

Sources indicate that Siddaramaiah had requested an appointment with the governor on Wednesday. In response, the governor reportedly agreed to meet either at 11:30 AM or after 3 PM on Thursday.

The governor’s departure has intensified speculation about the rapidly shifting political dynamics in the state. This situation has sparked further debate regarding the potential leadership changes within Karnataka.

Amidst these developments, Congress General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala dismissed rumors of any ‘power-sharing’ arrangements within the party. He stated that there has been no official discussion regarding a change in the chief ministerial position.

In response to these unfolding events, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that he will address all issues today. He is expected to speak to the media after a breakfast meeting with cabinet ministers at his official residence, ‘Kaveri.’
