Police Action in Shopian Against Provocative Social Media Posts

Shopian, March 4: In a decisive move, the police in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir, have taken strict action against the dissemination of provocative content on social media. Authorities received reports indicating that certain posts could potentially disrupt public peace and order.

During the investigation, police identified an individual named Javed Ahmad Khande, a resident of Keegam, who was sharing videos accompanied by captions and comments that appeared to incite unrest. The police expressed concern that such posts could disturb the tranquility of the area.

Taking the matter seriously, Shopian police initiated legal proceedings immediately. An FIR, numbered 26/2026, has been registered at the Shopian police station (Keegam police post), and an investigation is underway under relevant sections of the law.

Police officials emphasized that social media is a sensitive platform, and its misuse poses a challenge to law and order. Therefore, strict measures are essential in such cases. Further legal actions will be determined based on the investigation’s findings.

The Shopian police have once again urged the public to use social media responsibly and with restraint. They advised against posting or sharing any provocative, rumor-spreading, or tension-inducing content. The police made it clear that anyone found violating the law would face stringent consequences.

Maintaining peace and public order in the region remains a top priority for the police. They are actively monitoring social media and will respond promptly to any suspicious activities.
