PM Modis Sikkim Visit: Unveiling Over ₹4,000 Crore in Development Projects

New Delhi, April 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to Sikkim starting Monday. He will participate in the closing ceremony of the state’s 50th anniversary and unveil several development projects worth over ₹4,000 crore. The Prime Minister is expected to arrive in Gangtok around 3 PM on Monday.

On April 28, he will visit the Orchidarium in Gangtok, developed as a world-class ‘Orchid Experience Center’ to showcase the state’s rich ecology and floral heritage.

Later that morning, around 10 AM, PM Modi will attend the Golden Jubilee closing ceremony at Paljor Stadium. He will inaugurate, launch, and lay the foundation for projects across various sectors, including infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare, education, power, urban development, environment, tourism, and agriculture. He will also address the public.

In healthcare, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for a 100-bed Ayurveda hospital in Yangang, Namchi district, and inaugurate a 30-bed integrated ‘Sowa Rigpa’ hospital at NIT Deorali.

In the education sector, he will inaugurate the permanent campus of Sikkim University in Yangang, the administrative building of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Excellence University in Chakung, Helen Lepcha Medical College in Sochegang, and Dentum Professional College in Gyalshing district.

Additionally, model residential schools in Gyathang, a new model degree college in Mangshila, and a monastic hostel-cum-classroom in Bumtar Gumpa will also be inaugurated.

Moreover, IT-enabled infrastructure projects will be launched in 160 schools.

To enhance connectivity, PM Modi will lay the foundation for two ‘double-lane steel arch bridges’ over the Teesta River at Sirwani and Lower Samdong, and inaugurate the road from Birdhang to Kichudumra leading to Namchi.

In the power sector, he will inaugurate the renovation of the transmission and distribution network in Gangtok.

Urban development projects to be inaugurated include the ‘Jan Seva Secretariat’ in Lumsey, the ‘Civil Service Officers Institute’ in Gangtok, housing initiatives under the ‘Sikkim Urban Poor Housing Scheme,’ and accommodations for police personnel.

A ‘Sadbhaav Mandap’ will also be established on MG Marg.

Environmental initiatives include laying the foundation for the sewage system renovation project in Singtam and inaugurating the ‘Rani Chu River Pollution Mitigation Plan.’ In tourism, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the redevelopment of the ‘Ridge Precinct’ in Gangtok, eco-tourism and pilgrimage-related infrastructure in Dodak, facilities related to the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage, and a ‘Yatri Niwas’ at ‘Krishna Pranami Mangaldham.’

Additionally, the foundation for an ‘Eco-Pilgrimage Complex’ in Silnon will be laid.

PM Modi will also inaugurate the ‘Sikkim IFFCO Processing Plant,’ aimed at promoting agricultural processing and increasing farmers’ income. Furthermore, he will inaugurate indoor cricket facilities in mining areas of Pakyong district.
