BJP Launches Samarasata Sankalp Campaign for Guru Ravidas 650th Birth Anniversary

New Delhi, August 24: In celebration of the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiro Mani Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is conducting a year-long Samarasata Sankalp campaign. This initiative was announced by BJP National Vice President Lal Singh Arya.

He stated, “Inspired by Prime Minister Modi and under the guidance of BJP National President Nitin Nabin, the party is launching a campaign to commemorate the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiro Mani Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj. This campaign, named Samarasata Sankalp, commenced on July 29, Guru Purnima.”

Arya mentioned that a significant event under this campaign is scheduled for Monday at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in Delhi. The event will be attended by BJP National President Nitin Nabin, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, State President Harsh Malhotra, along with all MPs, MLAs, and ministers.

The objective of this campaign is to spread the teachings and thoughts of Sant Ravidas to the masses. The initiative will run until February 20, 2027, and will be executed in five phases.

Three programs were launched on July 29. The first is the Kalash Vandana program, taking place today in Delhi. The second is the Sant Sampark campaign, which has already connected with over 25,000 saints across the country. The third initiative is the Samaras Deep campaign, where Diwali celebrations have been organized at more than 51,000 locations. The Kalash Vandan Poojan program will conclude by September 10.

Following this, the Samarasata Sampark Yatra will begin from Jalandhar, traveling through Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, ultimately concluding in Kashi. The fifth phase will focus on a student outreach campaign to disseminate the thoughts of Sant Ravidas among students.

Arya emphasized that these campaigns will span approximately seven months, during which the BJP government is committed to the comprehensive development of significant sites associated with Sant Ravidas.

Sant Ravidas was a revered saint, poet, and social reformer of the Bhakti movement. He was born in 1376 or 1377 near Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on the day of Magh Purnima. A proponent of the Nirguna Bhakti tradition, he emphasized inner purity over external appearances or idol worship.

His famous saying, “Man Changa to Kathauti Mein Ganga,” means that a pure mind can find the essence of Ganga even at home. He envisioned an ideal society, Begampura, free from suffering, taxes, and caste discrimination.
