PM Modi Unveils Kannada Translations of Valmiki Ramayana and Stories of Vedanta Monks

Mysuru, August 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Center (Vivek Smarak) established by the Ramakrishna Ashram in Mysuru on Saturday. During the event, he also released the Kannada translations of the Valmiki Ramayana and “Stories of Vedanta Monks.”

Highlighting the significance of these publications, PM Modi stated that these translations would bring India’s timeless spiritual and literary heritage closer to Kannada readers, especially the youth.

He emphasized that this initiative would inspire young people to connect with the country’s cultural and philosophical traditions through their mother tongue.

After the program, PM Modi shared photos of his visit to the Ramakrishna Ashram and his conversations with the monks on X. He wrote, “Visited the Shri Ramakrishna Ashram in Mysuru. Their efforts in serving society and empowering our youth are commendable.”

During his visit, PM Modi engaged in discussions with the monks and praised the organization’s continuous work for social service. He particularly commended the institution’s role in values, education, and youth empowerment through the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and Shri Ramakrishna.

Meanwhile, Tejasvi Surya, National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Youth Wing and MP from Bengaluru South, welcomed PM Modi’s inauguration of the Vivek Smarak. He described it as a historic moment for Karnataka and a tribute to the legacy of Swami Vivekananda.

In a statement, Surya remarked that the cultural city of Mysuru has witnessed another historic occasion. PM Modi inaugurated the Vivek Smarak, built in memory of Swami Vivekananda’s visit to Mysuru in 1892.

Surya expressed pride in this opportunity for Karnataka. The event took place in the presence of the revered Shri Gautam Anand Ji Maharaj and reflects the enduring legacy of the Ramakrishna Ashram. Citing Swami Vivekananda’s famous message, “Arise, awake, and stop not until the goal is reached,” Surya expressed hope that this memorial would inspire millions of young minds across the country.

He added that the Vivek Smarak is not just a monument but will serve as a center of inspiration for the youth of the nation, motivating them to build the future of India and promote the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
