
Gandhinagar, March 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Gujarat on March 31. During his visit, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹19,806.9 crores, involving both the central and state governments.
The projects include ₹10,921 crores from the Ministry of Energy, Road Transport and Highways, and Railways, along with ₹8,886 crores from Gujarat’s Urban Development, Water Resources, Water Supply, Roads and Buildings, GIDC, Health and Family Welfare, Tourism, and Tribal Development departments. The event will take place in Vav-Tharad, with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, along with senior officials from both the central and state governments, in attendance.
Notably, the world’s largest hybrid renewable energy (RE) park is under construction in Khavda, Kutch district. On March 31, PM Modi will inaugurate three projects worth ₹3,645 crores under the Ministry of Energy for the RE park. These projects will ensure the effective integration of thousands of megawatts of renewable energy into the national grid, enhancing green energy accessibility and energy security.
Additionally, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will lay the foundation for the Idar-Bardoli bypass four-lane road (costing ₹705 crores) and the Dhola-Vira-Mauwana-Vova-Santalpur section (costing ₹575 crores). The Ahmedabad-Dholera project will see the inauguration of several packages, including Package 1 (₹1,298 crores), Package 2 (₹1,415 crores), Package 3 (₹1,034 crores), and Package 4 (₹1,358 crores).
The Ministry of Railways will also inaugurate projects worth ₹891 crores. These include the Himmatnagar-Khedbrahma broad gauge line, the quadrupling between Gandhidham and Adipur, and the doubling project from Kalangus to Jamnagar. The Khedbrahma-Hintmanagar-Asarwa train will also be flagged off from Khedbrahma. Overall, the inauguration and foundation laying of projects worth ₹10,921 crores from these three ministries will take place.
On March 31, PM Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation for development projects worth ₹8,886 crores from various departments of the Gujarat government. The Urban Development Department will see the most significant investment, with projects worth ₹5,295.5 crores. These projects primarily focus on the development of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, including the Khariakut Canal development, modernization of the BRTS and AMTS bus services in Ahmedabad, construction of a new four-lane bridge to replace the existing Subhash Bridge, housing for economically weaker sections (EWS), sports complexes, and auditoriums.
In Gandhinagar, residential houses for EWS will be constructed, along with open excavation work from the national highway to the Adalaj TSP (length: 2,420 meters) and microtunneling (length: 3,180 meters) for laying an 1,800 mm sewer trunk. Projects also include the construction of a 15 MLD sewage treatment plant in Pethapur, interlinking of four ponds in Randheja, and laying stormwater lines.
In addition to the Urban Development Department, various development works from the Water Resources, Water Supply, Roads and Buildings, GIDC, Health and Family Welfare, Tourism, Tribal, and Rural Development departments will also be inaugurated and laid. Furthermore, PM Modi will facilitate the home entry for citizens into 38,949 houses under the PM Awas Yojana (Gramin) across 34 districts of Gujarat, fulfilling the dream of homeownership for residents in rural areas.
