PM Modi Highlights Civil Nuclear Programs Role in Nation Building

New Delhi, April 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 133rd episode of the “Mann Ki Baat” program on Sunday. He discussed the significant contributions of India’s Civil Nuclear Program, emphasizing its impact on agriculture and modern innovators.

PM Modi began the program by stating, “India has always linked science to the nation’s progress. Our scientists are advancing the Civil Nuclear Program with this vision. Their efforts are playing a crucial role in nation-building. This initiative has greatly benefited our industrial growth, energy sector, and healthcare. From agriculture to modern innovators, the Civil Nuclear Program has provided substantial support.”

He also highlighted a recent achievement by Indian nuclear scientists, noting, “Recently, our nuclear scientists have enhanced India’s pride with another significant milestone. The fast breeder reactor in Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu, has achieved criticality. This stage signifies the reactor’s first success in a self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction, marking its transition to the operational phase. This is a historic milestone in India’s nuclear energy journey.”

During the program, PM Modi provided insights about the breeder reactor, explaining, “The breeder reactor serves a dual purpose. It not only produces energy but also generates new fuel for the future.”

Reflecting on a moment from March 2024, PM Modi recalled, “I remember the time in March 2024 when I witnessed the core loading of the reactor in Kalpakkam.” He concluded by congratulating everyone who has made invaluable contributions to India’s nuclear program.
