Greater Noida, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : Clear skies have led to a spike in pollution levels across Delhi-NCR following the recent cessation of rain. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, no significant weather changes are expected in the coming days. The sky will remain mostly clear, with temperatures likely to range between 34 to 35 degrees Celsius during the day and 23 to 24 degrees Celsius at night from September 22 to 24.
From September 25 to 27, partial cloud cover may appear, but no rain is forecasted. During this period, temperatures will continue to hover between 33 to 35 degrees Celsius.
As the weather clears, air pollution has begun to escalate. Recent data shows that the air quality index (AQI) in Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park-5 has soared to 330, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category. Meanwhile, Knowledge Park-3 recorded an AQI of 209, categorized as ‘poor.’
In the capital city, several areas are also experiencing rising pollution levels. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) reports that Chandni Chowk has an AQI of 235, Anand Vihar at 208, Bawana at 203, and the Commonwealth Sports Complex at 162. Other areas like Burari Crossing (159), CRRI Mathura Road (159), and Aaya Nagar (127) are similarly affected.
Ghaziabad is also seeing a decline in air quality, with AQI readings of 203 in Loni, 187 in Vasundhara, 186 in Indirapuram, 171 in Ved Vihar-Loni, 164 in Sanjay Nagar, and 123 in Govindpuram. Although the weather in the NCR remains dry and clear, this has unfortunately contributed to the accumulation of pollutant particles in the air. As a result, many areas in Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Greater Noida have seen their AQI levels escalate from ‘poor’ to ‘very poor.’
