New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : During the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Jessica Rose Apel Alupo, the Vice President of Uganda, for bilateral discussions. The meeting focused on strengthening technology partnerships, capacity building, knowledge sharing, and facilitating investments between the two nations.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in key priority areas through private sector collaboration. Modi highlighted that the development partnership between India and Uganda serves as a source of strength for both countries. He reaffirmed India’s support for Uganda’s ‘Vision 2040’, aimed at fostering a prosperous and developed nation. The Prime Minister also noted that close ties between the people of both countries would further solidify their partnership.
Additionally, the leaders called for closer bilateral engagement to amplify the voice of the Global South. Modi expressed gratitude to the Vice President for attending the summit.
On the second and final day of the BRICS Summit, Modi also met with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, appreciating his positive demeanor. Modi shared on social media that meeting Subianto was a delightful experience, noting the President’s warmth and optimistic attitude. He expressed hope for continued strengthening of partnerships between India and Indonesia.
The relationship between Modi and Subianto has been notably warm, with two meetings occurring in 2026 alone. Their first meeting took place in Jakarta during Modi’s state visit to Indonesia from July 6 to 8.
