Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto Praises PM Modi at BRICS Summit

New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 18th BRICS Summit, held in New Delhi. The meeting took place on the second and final day of the summit, where Modi appreciated Subianto’s positivity and warmth.

In a social media post, Modi described the encounter as special, highlighting Subianto’s friendly demeanor and optimistic attitude, which he said always wins hearts. The Prime Minister expressed hope that India and Indonesia would continue to strengthen their partnership across various sectors.

The rapport between the two leaders is evident, having met twice in 2026—first in Jakarta and then in New Delhi during the BRICS Summit. Modi had visited Indonesia from July 6 to 8, 2026, where they held official bilateral talks at the Istana Merdeka (Presidential Palace). During this visit, Modi was honored with Indonesia’s highest civilian award, the Bintang Jasa Utama. Discussions during their meetings included defense, maritime cooperation, the digital economy, and space.

At a community event, Subianto openly declared his admiration for Modi, saying, “I want to admit that I am a big fan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Subianto arrived in New Delhi on September 11, 2026, to participate in the BRICS Summit, where he was welcomed at the airport by Union Minister Satish Chandra Dubey. Indonesia became the tenth member of BRICS in January 2025, marking a significant step in amplifying the voice of the Global South and fostering cooperation among developing nations.
