New Delhi, June 13: The ‘India Innovates 2026’ event is set to elevate collaboration in innovation, deep technology, and startups between India and France. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron will jointly inaugurate the event on June 14 in Nice, France.
Organized by the Ministry of Education of the Government of India, this international program will see participation from 120 Indian innovators, approximately 15 higher education institutions, and over 500 investors. Key corporate firms, venture capitalists, global CEOs, and top industry representatives will also be present.
The event will focus on 13 key sectors, including advanced computing, semiconductors, space technology, biotechnology, energy, healthcare, and manufacturing. It aims to showcase India’s rapidly evolving innovation and deep tech ecosystem on a global platform. Alongside Prime Minister Modi, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal are also expected to attend.
Ajay Kumar Sood, the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, who leads the technical oversight committee for selecting 120 startups from India, will be present at this event. The inaugural edition of ‘India Innovates 2026’ will provide a significant opportunity for Indian deep tech startups and innovation-driven enterprises to present themselves to global investors and industry leaders. This platform will play a crucial role in promoting innovation-based partnerships between India and various countries worldwide.
During the event, several important agreements and announcements related to deep tech, research and development, startup expansion, and cross-border investments are anticipated. There will also be a strong emphasis on strengthening institutional cooperation between Indian and French innovation ecosystems. New opportunities for co-development, technology transfer, and rapid advancement of emerging technologies will be explored.
The objective of this event is to connect Indian innovators and institutions with investors, universities, research organizations, industries, and government entities. This connection aims to open new avenues for investment, technical validation, joint development projects, manufacturing partnerships, technology transfer, entry into global markets, and international expansion. Experts believe that ‘India Innovates 2026’ will further strengthen India’s participation in global innovation networks and help establish the country as a leading global hub for technology-driven development and entrepreneurship.
Notably, this event is part of the India-France Innovation Year 2026, which was launched in February 2026 by Prime Minister Modi and President Macron in Mumbai. This initiative is regarded as a significant step towards redefining science, technology, research, and innovation collaboration between the two nations.
