New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with CEOs and experts from leading Indian IT companies on Friday to discuss the future of artificial intelligence (AI) in the country.
Following the meeting, HCL Technologies CEO and MD C Vijayakumar said that listening to the Prime Minister was highly inspiring. He noted that PM Modi possesses deep knowledge about AI and is focused on developing AI solutions that are recognised globally as the best.
Mindtree CEO and MD Venugopal Lamboo described the conversation as one of the most motivational he has had with world leaders. He highlighted that the discussion centred around creating a global impact through technology, with AI playing a vital role in economic growth and improving access to healthcare.
Tata Consultancy Services CEO K Krithivasan said the meeting included talks on self-reliance and how AI can be leveraged while ensuring citizens’ data privacy and security.
Wipro CEO Srini Pallia shared that the dialogue focused on skill development, building India-centric AI applications, creating a sovereign technology infrastructure, and supporting global communities. He added that the Prime Minister provided excellent examples of how India can become self-reliant and emerge as an AI exporter through initiatives like UPAI.
Zoho CEO Sridhar Vembu mentioned that PM Modi encouraged them to work on solutions addressing India’s specific challenges. The discussion emphasised making AI accessible and beneficial to every Indian.
Adani ConneX CEO Jayakumar Jankaraj explained that the Prime Minister illustrated with simple examples how AI should be developed not just as infrastructure but as a real entity reflecting Indian ethos.
The meeting underscored the government’s commitment to advancing AI technologies rooted in Indian values, aiming to position India as a global leader in this transformative field.
