Nice, June 14: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Nice, France. He is set to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday. PM Modi will participate in the G7 summit and inaugurate ‘India Innovates 2026‘ alongside President Macron.
According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, this visit will strengthen cooperation between India and France in key sectors. The year 2026 will be celebrated as the ‘Year of Innovation’ for both nations, emphasizing a focus on innovation.
The ‘India Innovates‘ event will showcase India’s innovation ecosystem, providing a platform for startups and innovators to present their cutting-edge solutions and products.
PM Modi shared pictures on social media platform X, stating, “I have arrived in Nice. Besides Nice, this trip includes events in Avignon and Paris. There will be bilateral and multilateral engagements aimed at enhancing India’s friendships with key development partners. I look forward to meeting President Macron and participating in ‘India Innovates’ tomorrow (Sunday).”
Before departing for this foreign visit, PM Modi announced that he would be in France from June 13 to 18 at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron and will also visit Slovakia at the invitation of Prime Minister Robert Fico.
Earlier this year in February, President Macron visited India, where he participated in an AI summit and met with PM Modi to discuss deepening cooperation between the two countries.
PM Modi emphasized France’s special place in India’s strategic outlook. Following President Macron’s visit to India earlier this year, the two nations have elevated their relationship to a significant global strategic partnership. PM Modi is eager to meet President Macron in Nice.
During their meeting, PM Modi and Macron will review developments since February and outline the next steps for collaboration between the two countries. The Prime Minister expressed his anticipation for discussions on essential global issues of mutual interest.
On June 14, PM Modi will inaugurate ‘India Innovates 2026‘ with President Macron. After Nice, he will head to Slovakia, becoming the first Prime Minister to make an official visit since the country gained independence in 1993.
This historic trip will emphasize strengthening ties between the two nations. Regarding his Slovakia visit, PM Modi stated, “I look forward to discussions with President Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava. I will also have the opportunity to engage with Slovak business leaders. This visit will further advance the pace of the India-EU free trade agreement and strengthen our strategic partnership with the European Union, of which Slovakia is a vital member.”
