Quetta, June 19: Amid ongoing violence against civilians in Balochistan, prominent human rights organizations have accused Pakistani security forces of unlawfully killing two citizens and forcibly disappearing two others.
The Baloch United Committee (BUC) reported that the body of 22-year-old driver Mujahid was found riddled with bullets on Thursday near the Chakul area of Panjgur district. He had been missing for over ten days.
According to BUC, Mujahid was forcibly taken by Pakistani forces on the night of June 7 from the Sar Sand area near the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) road in Panjgur. The organization stated that his family was not informed about his whereabouts during his disappearance.
BUC emphasized, “Families of the missing and human rights activists have long demanded a fair investigation into enforced disappearances, unlawful killings, and other human rights violations. However, when it comes to Balochistan, government institutions have failed to take adequate action.”
In a separate incident, 33-year-old Gul Badeen Notazai was reportedly killed by the Pakistani army on June 17 in the Dalbandin area of Chagai district.
Condemning this incident, BUC stated, “This event has raised serious concerns about the safety of civilians among local residents. Gul Badeen Notazai has become one of many innocent citizens whose cases continue to raise questions about safety, rights, and protection in Balochistan.”
The organization has called for an immediate, fair, and transparent investigation into the matter and urged Pakistani authorities to identify those responsible and hold them accountable under the law.
Highlighting the alleged atrocities against civilians in Balochistan, the Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) reported on Friday that two more Baloch youths have been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces.
According to the organization, 21-year-old laborer Adil Baloch was taken on June 6 from the Killi Lohr Karez area of provincial capital Quetta, while 18-year-old laborer Ubaid Baloch was abducted on June 14 from Dalbandin.
Demanding immediate action from the Pakistani government, BVJ stated, “Those responsible for these incidents must be held accountable, and this ongoing practice of enforced disappearances in Balochistan must be brought to an end. Silence and inaction only exacerbate the suffering of victims and their families.”
