Piyush Goyal Discusses Cybersecurity and AI Solutions with Check Point CEO in Singapore

New Delhi, August 21: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with Nadav Zafrir, CEO of global cybersecurity firm Check Point Software Technologies, during his visit to Singapore. They discussed the company’s growing involvement in India, cybersecurity collaboration, and AI-based security solutions.

Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, shared details of the meeting on X, highlighting discussions on expanding Check Point’s research and development activities in India and utilizing AI-based security systems to protect the country’s digital public infrastructure.

According to Azar, both parties explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in cybersecurity, digital trust, and AI-driven innovation. The goal is to provide a secure and robust foundation for India’s rapidly growing digital economy and technology-based development.

This meeting comes at a time when India has emerged as a global leader in digital payments, digital identity, online government services, and data-driven public services. As cyber threats increase, securing these systems has become a top priority.

During his Singapore trip, Goyal emphasized strengthening economic ties between India and Asian countries. While addressing the India-Singapore Business Forum, he highlighted India’s robust economic progress, investment opportunities, and government reforms aimed at improving business ease.

Goyal also participated in a special event with Singapore’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Gan Siow Huang, aimed at promoting the export of Indian agricultural and processed food products. He noted that this initiative encourages organic products, fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen fruits and vegetables, dairy products, cashews, rice, and coarse grain-based products in Singapore. This will open new markets for Indian farmers and the food processing industry in Singapore, ASEAN countries, and Australia.

Additionally, Goyal met with Sopnendu Mohanty, CEO of the Global Finance and Technology Network, to discuss enhancing India-Singapore cooperation in emerging areas of financial innovation, technology, and the digital economy.

He also engaged with Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel Infrastructure, to explore investment and collaboration opportunities in the infrastructure sector.

During his visit, Goyal participated in the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable Conference alongside Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada. This high-level meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in investment, technology, the digital economy, skill development, connectivity, and sustainable development between the two countries.
