Ayodhya, August 21: The sacred city of Ayodhya marked the completion of one year of the daily Ramkot Parikrama on Friday. This special occasion witnessed a grand celebration, attended by thousands of devotees alongside saints and sages. The parikrama commenced at 5:30 AM, showcasing the enthusiasm of the Ram devotees.
Initiated after the construction of the Ram Temple, this parikrama has become an integral part of Ayodhya’s daily routine. Historically known as ‘Antargrihi Parikrama,’ it is believed that saints and ascetics have been performing this ritual for centuries. The Ram Temple Trust has reinstated this practice on a regular basis.
Every morning, the parikrama includes visits to over a dozen significant temples in the Ramkot area, including the Ram Lalla Temple and Hanumangarhi. After completing the parikrama, devotees have the opportunity to seek the blessings of Lord Ram. Reports indicate that approximately 5,000 devotees participate in this parikrama daily, with numbers significantly higher on this anniversary.
Anil Mishra, a former member of the Ram Temple Trust, remarked, “Saints and ascetics have been performing the Ramkot Parikrama as ‘Antargrihi Parikrama’ since ancient times. Following the construction of the Ram Temple, this daily parikrama was initiated. The community of saints and devotees welcomes everyone participating today as we celebrate one year of this sacred ritual.”
Rajkumar Das, a member of the Ram Temple Trust’s religious committee and the head of Ram Vallabh Kunj, added, “Today, devotees participated in the parikrama of Thakur Shri Ram Lalla, Shri Hanuman Ji, and over a dozen other temples in the Ramkot area. Saints, mahants, acharyas, and thousands of devotees gathered together for this daily event, which takes about an hour to complete.”
He encouraged visitors to Ayodhya to partake in this parikrama. “If devotees cannot undertake the larger Panchkosi or 14 Kosi parikrama, they should at least participate in the Antargrihi, or Ramkot parikrama,” he advised.
