How Petrol & Diesel Prices Are Determined

For those unaware, petrol and diesel prices in India are revised daily at 6:00 AM. The final retail price includes:

• Excise duty

• Dealer commission

• Value Added Tax (VAT)

• Freight and other charges

These add-ons nearly double the basic cost of fuel, which explains the high prices seen at the pump despite global fluctuations.
